As you are going to be learning in this book, smoking fewer cigarettes is easier than stopping. Actually, that sounds so blindingly obvious I feel almost embarrassed saying it. Almost, note. I don’t think it will surprise you that smoking less is easier than stopping. After all, many people smoke different amounts on different days, depending on the circumstances (work days as against weekends, for example) and they do that without any effort at all. They do it, in fact without trying. Actually, they do it without thinking. They just do it. And I mean lots of people. Maybe even you. Now, ask those people who smoke less some days to STOP SMOKING and I think like me you will be expecting a sharp rebuke, if not a smack in the mouth. Stopping smoking has nothing, absolutely nothing, to do with what they are doing by smoking less some days.
