NO, YOU DON'T HAVE TO STOP SMOKING
We help people to stop smoking, but we also help heavy smokers to become light smokers – IF THAT IS WHAT THEY WANT. We have a book on this subject, and there are lots of pages you can read for free. You might be interested to do this before you come to our Ebbw Vale hypnosis branch. Here is a taster.
….. So these are the drugs on offer by the NHS in collaboration with the pharmaceutical industry. There are, as can already be seen, two major problems with them. The first is the side effects of all of them, which mean that a majority of patients never get past first base with them. The second is the mistake that taking a drug, either one that changes the way your brain works or the one you are trying to come off, addresses the many reasons why people can’t stop smoking.
So now we come to therapy. Before describing the different therapies, let’s look at why the very concept of therapy is better that that of drugs. Think of the reasons why you can’t stop smoking. You are addicted, which is the biggest issue, and you have what is correctly called psychological dependence, which is the belief in smoking that is created by the addiction. In order to help someone to stop smoking, it is essential to address both of these issues. NRPs don’t address either of them, and Champix attempts to tackle the addiction but has no impact on the dependence. Now you know why we don’t use drugs. Smokers come to us because they have already failed with those, and although they might not yet understand why therapy is so much better than drugs they ask us for help at least because they have run out of other ideas.
