We want every client to get the best from our Raynes Park hypnotherapy service. Follow the instructions here and you will help us to help you.

Before you come:

1. Read about hypnotherapy and how it works here. There is also free pages from our book you can read here.

2. Watch the videos here. You don’t have to watch all of them. Just pick those that interest you the most.

3. That morning, throw away all smoking materials. Why wouldn’t you?

4. At the session, make sure you ask our Raynes Park hypnotist anything at all. Don’t hold back – they need to know what you need to know.

5. The day after the session, call the NSSC AfterCare team. Their job is to check that everything is going well. If it is, that’s great. If it isn’t, they will help you to fix it.

6. Avoid tomatoes, and any food containing tomato. If you don’t know why, call us.

7. You might be tempted to go out drinking with friends who smoke. Don’t, until you don’t care about smoking.

8. If you have a smoker in the house, they have to support you. This means a) not smoking in the house, and b) not leaving cigarettes around.

9. Tell your friends you have stopped smoking and get their support.

And after the appointment:

10. Finally, something we cannot overstate. If you have a problem, call us. If you think you might smoke, call us. If you do smoke, call us. We will never judge you. We’re here to help, and we’re very good at it. Don’t call our Raynes Park hypnotist, call the AfterCare service, on 01200 40 50 22.

From our Raynes Park hypnotherapy branch

Peter’s problem was that he couldn’t understand why none of the drug products his GP had given him had helped him to stop smoking. The issue our Raynes Park hypnotherapist needed to address was Peter’s conviction that there must be something wrong with him. If other people could stop smoking with those products, why couldn’t he?

Our second point is that the success rate for drugs for smoking cessation is somewhere in the region of ten percent. That means there was nothing special about Peter failing with them. It also means that the failure can be blamed on the products, not the users. Almost all of the clients who come to see our Raynes Park hypnotist have failed with such products.

At this point we found it helpful to look at why Peter had not stopped smoking with the products he had tried. Nicotine replacement products have such a poor success rate because giving people nicotine to stop them smoking is a bad idea. Electric cigarettes are also NRPs, so that deals with them. And Champix has two problems. One is that it has such a high incidence of side effects that most people can’t complete a course. The other is that altering brain chemistry to stop people smoking is a bad idea. Our Raynes Park hypnotist has been helping people to stop smoking for fifteen years, and not one of them has ever suffered any side effects from hypnotherapy.

Therapy always works better than drugs. Drugs are easy for the NHS and GPs. That’s fine, but what is not fine is that they don’t work in most cases. That is not solving the problem. It’s appearing to tackle the problem. The end result is a lot of people who come to hypnosis or acupuncture, after years of frustration, because they finally realise that the NHS can’t help them. If everyone who has ever come to our Raynes Park hypnosis branch had made that their first choice, they would have saved themselves a great deal of wasted time.

Here is a bit of a taster:

Case study

This is actually two case studies which illustrate fear.

Maureen was a woman in her sixties, very strong both physically (she was an ex-Olympic swimmer) and emotionally. Her husband attended the clinic with her, not as a patient but just to support her, which we approve of.

Before we had gone too long into the appointment a ghastly look came over Maureen’s face and she got up from her seat. Before we had time to realise what was happening, she had crumpled onto the floor in the corner of the consulting room. She was shaking violently and crying. Her husband was, not surprisingly, highly alarmed. It was fear of going through with it. The nurse gave her a dose of Argentum Nitricum (a homeopathic remedy we sometimes use for fear) and helped her to do some breathing exercises, and in due course she calmed down and completed the session. She went on to stop smoking, but it was an eye-opener for her husband, who saw her as a swimming champion but had never known how afraid she was of stopping smoking. It was a bit of an eye-opener for us too.

Barry came to the clinic with his sister. Half-way through the session, after the nurse had given him his first dose of the neutrogen, he stood up and said he refused to continue, and he left the room very aggressively. His sister was acutely embarrassed but continued with her treatment. That afternoon, when we were in the next session with more patients, she knocked on the door of the clinic. Her brother had sent her, with his payment, and asked if he could have his neutrogen. He was too embarrassed to come himself, but they had sat in a pub over the road having lunch, and he realised that he didn’t feel like smoking. The only thing that could overcome his fear of failure was seeing his own success. A week later his sister rang to request a repeat prescription for him, because he was still embarrassed, but was still not smoking.

Fear makes people do strange things, including refusing help from the very people who can make the fear go away.

When you call us about hypnosis, or complete the enquiry form, we will contact you to discuss whether hypnotherapy is what you need. Once we are sure, we will have our Raynes Park hypnotherapist phone you. They are highly qualified, of course, but you will still want to see if you like them. Hypnotherapy is great, which is why we provide it, but your success will to some extent depend on your relationship with the hypnotherapist you see.

A Raynes Park hypnosis service might not be what you’re looking for. If instead you want to take smoking cessation drugs see your GP.. You can also visit the NHS  Smokefree website here. If the NHS can’t help you though, our Raynes Park hypnotist will be pleased to.
