NO, YOU DON'T HAVE TO STOP SMOKING
Sometimes, people come to us not to stop smoking but for smoking reduction. It’s a choice they make, and we publish a book on reduction. ‘No, You Don’t Have to Stop Smoking’ will be of interest even if you do want to stop completely. Why not take a look at it before you visit our Halifax hypnotist. Here is a taster to get you started.
….. In our work on helping people to stop smoking, we have found an interesting effect among those who are heavy drinkers of these substances. They almost always suddenly drink a lot less as soon as they stop smoking. Why is this? Well, one possible reason is that they suddenly don’t have a dry mouth so much so they don’t need to drink so much. But another (and much more interesting) reason is that the addictive substances in these drinks react with nicotine. Take coffee. The caffeine is weakened by nicotine. When you smoke, you don’t notice the effect of caffeine as much as when you don’t smoke. So when you stop smoking the caffeine in your tea and coffee can become potentiated, which means made stronger. And because it’s stronger you instinctively drink less of it.
When you become a light smoker it is likely that you will drink less tea, coffee and cola or other fizzy drinks. In my opinion this cannot be a bad thing. I shouldn’t, though, worry about drinking, by which I mean as you go through the process of bringing your smoking under control any excess drinking is likely to come under control naturally, so you don’t need to do anything specific about it.
