Most clients stop in a single session, but a free follow-up is provided within three months in the event that you have a problem. Our Coventry hypnotherapist has bookings from Monday to Saturday, and you can also be seen in the evening.
We find most patients stop quite easily with three treatments. Our fee covers the complete course.
We hope to bring AM to the West Midlands by the end of 2017.

A SHORT CASE HISTORY
From our Coventry hypnotherapy branch
We ask everyone who calls for help about their history of trying to stop. As soon as we heard that Laura had succeeded with hypnosis, we were able to say she should have it again. In Laura’s case, she stopped smoking and stayed stopped for ten months after the hypnotherapy.
Most of the clients who come to our Coventry hypnotherapy branch have never had it before, so Laura was an exception. Naturally, what we then needed to know was why she had started smoking again. She had had some traumatic event and had smoked. And because she had smoked, she carried on smoking. This is the first lesson all clients need to learn. Smoking the first cigarette, and smoking the second one, are two separate decisions.
So we were happy for our Coventry hypnotist to see Laura. What she had to be clear about, though, was how to use our AfterCare service. This was going to give her three years of unlimited counselling and support by telephone after the hypnotherapy.
The biggest concern we have is that clients have a problem and don’t tell us about it. In part this is the fault of NHS smoking cessation people, who take the view that smoking a cigarette equals failure. We take the opposite view. We see smoking as something that can easily be addressed. Our Coventry hypnotist emphasises to all clients that erring is human. A small but significant number of people do make a mistake after hypnosis. In fact Laura did.
The good news is that she rang our AfterCare team about it. Her first comment was that she had failed. On further investigation, though, it turned out that what she meant was she had smoked three cigarettes. But the day she called us she hadn’t smoked at all. We discussed having her back to see our Coventry hypnotherapist for a follow-up session, but Laura agreed she should wait and see. In fact she didn’t need another hypnosis session. What made the difference for her was phoning and owning up.
NO, YOU DON'T HAVE TO STOP SMOKING
Sometimes, people come to us not to stop smoking but for smoking reduction. It’s a choice they make. We publish a book on reduction. It’s called, No, You Don’t Have to Stop Smoking. You might be interested to read some of it before you visit our Coventry hypnotherapist or acupuncturist. Here is a taster.
I have been doing this work for twenty-two years now and I can tell you that some of the hardest people to get to stop smoking are those who need to the most, people with a medical imperative, people who know they are likely to die, or loose a lung or a limb if they continue to smoke. I’m not really qualified to say why this is, but apparently neither are most doctors because they seem to have no answer to this conundrum. Worse still, it is not uncommon for physicians to just give up on people in the late stages of destroying themselves through smoking.
And of course it is equally easy for the smokers themselves to give up as well. I have lost count of the number of smokers I have come across who have lung cancer, or perhaps worse cancer of the throat, who continue to smoke. It makes no sense, does it? You smoke when you’re young and healthy because you believe, wrongly of course, it will never get you, and then when it’s too late, when it has got you, you just throw in the towel. Equally shocking is the number of people who undergo horrendous medical treatment like chemotherapy and radiotherapy for cancer caused by smoking, but don’t stop doing the thing that caused the disease. It’s as if they are accepting that both are inevitable – the treatment and the smoking, and give no thought to what they might actually do that might save their lives. Alright, yes, if you have throat cancer it perhaps is too late and you might as well carry on smoking because, well, why not?
Well, there is one good reason why I think if that were happening to me that I would address the smoking. I think I would be angry, very angry indeed (at myself, the tobacco industry, whoever) and I think I could not bring myself to carry on doing the thing that had done this to me. Fair enough, that’s just me, but I thought I would mention it all the same.
