THE NSCI STOP SMOKING HANDBOOK
Here’s a snippet from the book. There are lots of pages you can read for free. We suggest you do this before you come to our Herne Bay hypnosis branch.
….. If you used patches: Did you find they slipped off/you reacted to the plaster? Did they fail to satisfy your craving?
If there was a problem in use, again you never got to the point of learning if nicotine might help you to stop smoking, so try another product.
If you used the inhaler: Did you find it unpleasant and hard to suck on? Was it alright in use, but didn’t satisfy the craving?
Here we go again. Yes, if you couldn’t use it, try another product.
And so on. Another question:
You used an NRP satisfactorily, there were no problems and it satisfied the craving so you didn’t smoke. But after a while, and especially if you tried coming off it, the craving simply came back and you smoked again?
The problem here was that taking nicotine satisfied your need for nicotine (which when you think about it it should), but coming off the nicotine had the predictable result. In other words, because you were addicted to nicotine your body didn’t care where you got the fix from, a cigarette or an NRP, but it insists that you get it from somewhere.
OTHER HERNE BAY STOP SMOKING RESOURCES
Some people should try drug products for smoking cessation first. If you prefer them to hypnosis, we suggest you see your doctor. You could also visit the NHS Kent website for information about them here.
