THE NSCI STOP SMOKING HANDBOOK
Here’s a snippet from the book. There are lots of pages you can read for free. We suggest you do this before you come to our Dover hypnosis branch.
You had acupuncture: How it works
Acupuncture is a physical treatment and it therefore tackles the addiction itself, although some acupunc-turists will broaden the treatment to incorporate detoxification and other health issues.
The principle is that acupuncture can relieve the pain and stress of withdrawal symptoms, leaving you more in control. It does this very well, but on its own it has limitations (which is why we always combine it with a psychological programme).
Acupuncture is actually very effective generally (I had it once, not for smoking, and it was amazing), and it has a lot to offer smokers, but we find that most acupuncturists simply aren’t trained sufficiently to help smokers so they either don’t offer help or they do so ineffectually. It’s why we provide continuing professional development for them specifically to help smokers.
Did you stop smoking for at least a week? Did it do nothing to help?
If you stopped for at least a week, I would certainly recommend doing it again.
OTHER DOVER STOP SMOKING RESOURCES
Some people should try drug products for smoking cessation first. If you prefer them to hypnotherapy, we suggest you see your doctor. You can also visit the NHS Kent website here.
