When you have seen our Wembley hypnotherapist we will enrol you in our NSSC AfterCare programme. The support that comes with each therapy is different, although in each case it provides access to our unlimited help by telephone counselling.

Is it true that you enjoy being a smoker?
I don’t mean do you enjoy smoking, I mean do you like the fact that you are a smoker? Are you happy that you smoke?I guess the answer to that has to be no, doesn’t it, because otherwise why are you reading this Handbook? So we seem to have a conflict. You say you enjoy smoking (of course you might not be saying that, I don’t know you, I’m speaking generally), but you aren’t happy to be smoking. That doesn’t sound right, does it? It’s one of the many contradictions in smoking, which I expect you have realised.
How can anyone like doing something but be unhappy that they do it at the same time? Normally I would say that’s unlikely. I mean, for example, either you like playing cricket or you don’t. I don’t know anyone who plays cricket and says I like doing this but I wish I didn’t do it. That kind of conflict is, I imagine, fairly uncommon among cricketers. Similarly I don’t know anyone who eats smoked salmon and regrets it. They enjoy smoked salmon and they are pretty well content to be someone who eats it. No conflict there.
Of the tens of thousand of smokers we have dealt with over the years, we know exactly the number who are happy to be smokers, even if they claim to enjoy smoking. It’s nil. What can we learn from that conflict? It can only be that being unhappy that you are a smoker is real, and believing you enjoy a cigarette is because you are addicted to nicotine.
