THE NSCI STOP SMOKING HANDBOOK
Before seeing our Beaconsfield hypnotherapist, you might read the sample pages on our website.
Here is a very small taster:
….. You are going to be reading a lot, shortly, about the psychological dependence that the addiction to nicotine creates. That dependence can go very deep and change people’s perceptions of smoking and the need to stop and also their ability to stop. That is what it’s for. The tobacco companies need to change what we might call the correct way to think about smoking, which should be entirely negative, into a more positive way of thinking. They know that the addiction to nicotine changes the way you see the drug. They know that it is the addiction to nicotine that gives you the wrong (or what they call right) attitude not only to smoking, in that you see it as alright, but to stopping, which you see as not alright.
In other words, you can’t think the right way about smoking and stopping because you are an addict. You can’t expect to think the right way, because you are an addict. It’s a wonderful trick. You are addicted so you can’t think straight about becoming unaddicted, which is the tobacco companies’ first line of defence against you stopping.
OTHER BEACONSFIELD STOP SMOKING RESOURCES
Hypnosis might not be what you want. If it isn’t, and you want to take pharmaceutical products to stop smoking, we suggest you see your GP.. You can also visit the Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS website here.
