A STOP-SMOKING TIP

There is one food you need to exclude when you’re stopping smoking. If you are thinking of coming to our Cannock hypnotist or acupuncturist, you should learn about this first. That food is tomato.

Here is the science behind this. The tomato and tobacco plants are related to each other. They are both members of the nightshade family (Solanaceae if you’re a gardener). Other members of this family are aubergine, potato and capsicum, but these aren’t usually a problem. So why is there a problem with tomato and tobacco being related? Well, it means they have certain molecules in common. When you stop smoking and your body is looking for tobacco, a molecule of tomato can replace a tobacco molecule. So in a way you could still be smoking. And what does smoking do? It keeps your addiction going.

Now the practical information. For how long shouldn’t you eat any tomato? It’s just four days or so after your last tobacco, but bear in mind this includes nicotine replacement products. After that there will be no nicotine in your body, so you will no longer be addicted to it.  But now we need to explain what we mean by not eating tomato. Note we don’t put an ‘s’ on the end of that word. We’re not talking just about tomatoes, but anything made from them. Absolutely anything. This includes ketchup, tomato soup, pasta sauce, pizza, baked beans, etc etc. You get the idea.

If you want to know more about this issue, ask our acupuncturist or hypnotist in Cannock when you see them. You are also welcome to call our national advice service, on 01200 40 50 22.
