A STOP-SMOKING TIP

This is probably new to you, but there is one food you must avoid when you stop smoking. If you are going to come to our Hereford hypnotist, get ready to deal with this. The food concerned is tomato, because it can make you want to smoke.

First, here’s the science. The tomato plant and the tobacco plant are related to each other. They are both nightshade family (Solanaceae in Latin). So why does tomato and tobacco being related matter? Well, because they have certain molecules in common. This means that when you stop smoking and your body is looking for tobacco, a molecule of tomato can mimic a tobacco molecule. This matters because your immune system can think the tomato molecule has come from tobacco. This matters, in turn, because what happens if you get a tobacco molecule? That’s right. You could be smoking.

Now the practical information. How long do you need to avoid tomato? You will be pleased to hear it’s just four or five days after your last tobacco. After that time, there will be no nicotine in your body, so you will no longer be addicted to it. And so your immune system won’t have to worry about tomato. That’s the good news. The other news (it’s not really bad) is that we need to explain what we mean by avoiding tomato. Note we don’t put an ‘s’ on the end of that word. We’re not talking about tomatoes, we’re taking about anything made from tomato. And we really do mean anything. So no soup, pasta sauce, pizza, baked beans, etc etc. You get the idea.

If you would like to know more, ask our Hereford hypnotist when you see them. You are also welcome to call us, on 01200 40 50 22.
