A STOP-SMOKING TIP

Before you see our Newport-on-Tay hypnotist we suggest you take time to ensure that this is the best method for you. Everyone has their own issues with stopping smoking. Think about what yours are, and learn whether hypnotherapy is good at dealing with those. We have a page, linked above, which goes into how it works, so do read that first.

In fact hypnotherapy is such a successful stop-smoking method because it DOES resolve the problems smokers have. Almost everyone does very well with it. We’re just saying there are other options. The obvious one is acupuncture. This is every bit as successful, but not all smokers know about it. It’s possible that it would be more suited for you, so read about it before you decide. We can’t offer it here, but we do have a Dundee acupuncture branch.

Having thought this through, if you are ready to make an appointment with our Newport hypnotist, then by all means go ahead.

If you’re still not sure, then we strongly recommend that you call us. We are here to help, and helping you to choose the right therapy matters to us. You can be confident we’re going to give you impartial advice.

ANOTHER STOP-SMOKING TIP

We always ask smokers, when they call about our Newport-on-Tay hypnotist, why they can’t stop. More often than not there are several reasons. One that comes up time and time again, though is habit.

Here is an explanation for why habit is not stopping you stopping. Habit is defined as something you do without thinking. You light up after a meal, when you make a long phone call, with a drink, and so on. It is true these are habit cigarettes. But is habit really the reason you smoke them? No, the reason you smoke any given cigarette is because you have cigarettes to smoke. You can test whether this habit matters by not having them readily available.

Before you book to see our Newport-on-Tay hypnotist, try this habit-breaking experiment. Don’t keep your cigarettes where you can just smoke them without thinking. Make yourself think, which means it’s not a habit. Even better, don’t buy any. Now try smoking out of habit. So, you would have to go and buy some. Fair enough. But it has at least proved our point, hasn’t it? Having to buy some is nothing to do with habit, is it?

TIPS FOR GETTING THE MOST FROM OUR HYPNOTHERAPY

Smokers come to our Newport-on-Tay hypnosis branch not only because they want to see a qualified therapist. We provide a comprehensive service, and part of that is to advise and support you every step of the way. These tips are a good starting point for you.

Prior to your session:

1. Investigate how hypnotherapy works here.

2. Read up on different aspects of stopping smoking from The NSCI Stop-Smoking Handbook.

3. We have six videos, each covering a different aspect of smoking cessation. Time spent watching them will serve you well.

Then:

4. Our Newport-on-Tay hypnotist needs to know why you can’t stop smoking. Tell them everything.

5. Avoid tomatoes, and any food containing tomato, for the first four or five days. The reason is explained elsewhere on this site, but it’s also in our book. Or phone us and we’ll explain.

6. If you were a recovering alcoholic, you would not expect people to drink in your home. You are going to be a recovering nicotine addict. No-one smokes in your home.

7. The day after the session, talk to our NSSC AfterCare team, on 01200 40 50 22. It’s this support that makes us different from independent therapists.

8. Many people think it’s a good idea to test themselves by socialising and drinking. Actually, it’s a really bad idea. Why would you do that? Tell your friends you are stopping smoking. If you won’t support you, they’re not really friends, are they?

And finally:

9. We have already said that support is what sets us apart. If you don’t use it, and you have a problem, you have only yourself to blame. Once you have seen our hypnotist in Newport-on-Tay call the AfterCare team to take advantage of their expertise.

OTHER NEWPORT-ON-TAY STOP SMOKING RESOURCES

Therapy might not be what you’re looking for. If it isn’t, and you want to take pharmaceutical products to stop smoking, we suggest you see your GP.. You can also visit the NHS Fife website here.
