OUR GUARANTEED AFTERCARE SERVICE

When you have seen our Belfast hypnotherapist or acupuncturist we will enrol you in our NSSC AfterCare programme. The support that comes with each therapy is different, although in each case it provides access to our unlimited help by telephone counselling.

Belfast Hypnotherapy AfterCare

This gives three years of support. Support is something we specialise in, and it can make all the difference between short-and long-term success.

Belfast Acupuncture AfterCare

You will be getting three years of counselling and support with acupuncture. In addition to the long-term support, we like to talk with you after the first treatment. This is to assess your progress and ensure that our Belfast acupuncturist has feedback to prepare for your second treatment.

A STOP-SMOKING TIP

Before you make your booking with our Belfast hypnotist or acupuncturist consider whether you are choosing the correct method. Everyone has heard of hypnotherapy, and most people decide to use it on that basis. We find, though, that most smokers actually know very little about it. There is some good information here, so click on the link above to get the facts. Think about why you fail to stop smoking and ask yourself whether hypnotherapy solves that problem.

The same applies if you are thinking of booking with our Belfast acupuncturist. We find few smokers are familiar with acupuncture, at least for smoking cessation. So take the time to read about it before making your decision.

If all this leaves you a little confused, why not call us? We’re here to help, and making sure you get the right therapy is important, so you can be confident we are going to give you good advice.

ANOTHER STOP-SMOKING TIP

Stress is a concern for many smokers calling about our Belfast hypnotist or acupuncturist. They say they can’t stop smoking because of it, or they smoke more when they are stressed. The false belief that smoking relieves stress is the problem. Smoking does not reduce stress.

You smoke, which means you are addicted to nicotine. If you don’t have a cigarette for a while your nicotine level drops and this makes you feel stressed. When you then light one the nicotine makes you feel less stressed. So what smoking is doing is relieving the stress caused by not smoking. There is nothing in tobacco that relieves any other kind of stress.

The problem this causes is it makes you believe it is cigarettes that make you less stressed. So before you see our Belfast hypnotist or acupuncturist accept this right now. You do not need to worry about stress. In fact many people become LESS stressed when they stop smoking.

DOING IT RIGHT

TEN TIPS FOR GETTING THE MOST FROM YOUR THERAPY

The main reason smokers come for our Belfast hypnosis or acupuncture is to see a qualified therapist. But ours is a comprehensive service in which we are going to advise and support you every step of the way. Read these instructions before going any further.

Prior to your session:

1. Understand how acupuncture works here, or how hypnotherapy works here.

2. Read up on different issues in stopping smoking from The NSCI Stop-Smoking Handbook.

3. We have six videos, each covering an aspect of smoking cessation. Watch them.

Then:

4. Our Belfast hypnotist or acupuncturist needs to know why you can’t stop smoking. Tell them everything.

5. Avoid tomatoes, and any food containing tomato, for the first four days. We explain why elsewhere, and it’s also in our book. Or phone us and we’ll explain.

6. If you were a recovering alcoholic, you would not expect people to drink in your home. You are going to be a recovering nicotine addict. No-one should expect to smoke in your home.

7. The day after the session (first treatment in acupuncture), talk with the NSSC AfterCare team, on 01200 40 50 22. It’s this support that makes us special.

8. Many people think it’s a good idea to challenge themselves by socialising and drinking. It isn’t. And tell your friends you are stopping smoking. If you won’t support you, they’re not friends, are they?

9. The day of your appointment, throw away all your cigarettes.

And finally:

10. We have already said that support is what sets us apart. If you don’t use it, and you have a problem, you have only yourself to blame. Decide right now that once you have seen our acupuncturist or hypnotist in Belfast you will call the AfterCare team to draw on their expertise.

OTHER BELFAST STOP SMOKING RESOURCES

Therapy might not be what you’re looking for. If it isn’t, and you want to take pharmaceutical products to stop smoking, we suggest you see your GP.. You can also visit the NHS Belfast website here.
