OUR GUARANTEED AFTERCARE SERVICE

When you have seen our Blackpool hypnotherapist or acupuncturist we will enrol you in our NSSC AfterCare programme. The support that comes with each therapy is different, although in each case it provides access to our unlimited help by telephone counselling.

Blackpool Hypnotherapy AfterCare

This gives three years of support. We strongly advise you to call the helpdesk the day after your session. If you need more help, a second session is available with our Blackpool hypnotist without charge.

Blackpool Acupuncture AfterCare

You will be getting three years of counselling and support with acupuncture. In addition to the long-term support, we like to talk with you after the first treatment. This is to assess the progress you are making and to give our Blackpool acupuncturist feedback for your second treatment.

THE NSCI STOP SMOKING HANDBOOK

Here is a very small taster from the book. If you are going to come to our hypnotherapist or acupuncturist in Blackpool, read some sample pages first.

….. If you’ve been smoking for many years, when you stop your body is going to try to eliminate toxins. Those toxins are at the moment bedded into your lungs but during detoxification they pass through your body and can cause mischief. There’s the cough, but toxins breathed out through the mouth can cause mouth ulcers too. Oozing out through the skin can cause all sorts of skin problems. There can be headaches and stomach aches. Muscle pain is not uncommon. You might well be tired for a few days. Some people are so exhausted they can hardly move. The toxins compromise the immune system and there can be opportunistic infections. Some people become depressed. Some people get constipated, because tobacco stimulates the bowels and they have been using it, unintentionally, as a laxative for years.

A SHORT CASE HISTORY

From our Blackpool hypnotherapy branch

Should someone who has failed to stop smoking hypnosis have it again? That’s not a simple question to answer, because one needs to ask some further questions in order to do that. Alex called our national helpline to enquire about stopping, and his first statement was that he didn’t know which of our therapies to choose. We ask every caller what methods they have tried before to stop smoking, and as well as all the usual nicotine replacement products Alex told us he had had hypnotherapy. He was wondering whether to come to our Blackpool hypnotherapy or acupuncture service. Naturally, we asked him about his experience with hypnosis, and why, if he hadn’t succeeded, he wanted to do it again.

There are many reasons who people fail to stop smoking with any given method. We’re talking here about therapy, not drug products. Therapy always works better than drugs, so there isn’t really a valid comparison. Therapy succeeds almost every time, but inevitably there are some people one just cannot help. We get some pretty tough cases. Alex, though, wasn’t actually one of them. We can never be sure why someone fails to stop at any given time, but whilst we have to assess if the method might not be suitable for them there are other criteria too. There are many hypnotists in Blackpool, and we know nothing about most of them. It would be unfair to make a judgment about people we don’t know.

Alex had, though, made a correct decision in asking us to assess his needs. He had spoken with independent therapists, and all they could advise was to go to them, naturally enough. A hypnotist isn’t going to recommend acupuncture, and vice versa (although we can’t exclude the possibility in obvious cases). Alex came to us for the very specific reason that we have branches for both acupuncture and hypnotherapy in Blackpool. He understood that we were therefore not going to be biased in favour of either therapy.

Having said that, we must now come back to the fact that he had already had hypnotherapy. If we had no way of making a judgment about the hypnotherapist he had seen, we could at least make a judgment about him. If we felt he was not suited for it we would have said so and offered him acupuncture. However, after a really rather lengthy telephone assessment we concluded that hypnotherapy was exactly what he needed. We couldn’t know why it had been unsuccessful before. Was it the therapist he saw, or was it just the wrong moment for him? Or was it that he would have succeeded if he had been given the right post-therapy support, which he told us he hadn’t. That’s not something independent Blackpool hypnotherapists generally offer, whereas at NSSC it’s something we’re exceptionally good at.

Well, to keep a long story short, whatever the reason for his past failure this time Alex stopped smoking in a single session of hypnotherapy. We would never know what had happened previously, but it no longer mattered.

OTHER BLACKPOOL STOP SMOKING RESOURCES

Therapy might not be what you’re looking for. If it isn’t, and you want to take pharmaceutical products to stop smoking, we suggest you see your GP.. You can also visit the Blackpool Council website here.
