A STOP-SMOKING TIP

If you are like most smokers, you would like to know how successful our Amersham hypnosis service is. It’s an obvious question. It’s not, though, the right question. We could answer it but how would you know if our answer is truthful? You wouldn’t. This is why we don’t answer the question, and it’s why no stop-smoking therapist should. To answer is to make a claim, and making a claim you can’t prove is not ethical.

So how, in fact, do we respond to the question? Well, we give what we believe is not only an ethical answer but also a more helpful one. One that actually gives the smoker advice they can use. Our tip to you is to think about this advice.

First, Think about which therapy you need. Paying to see our hypnotist in Amersham because a friend or relative did may seem sensible but is it? Up to a point it is, but before you do that think about why you can’t stop smoking. Does hypnotherapy resolve those specific issues? If you’re not sure, ask for our advice.

Then, make sure the Amersham hypnotist you book with is both qualified and experienced. Obviously, if you are coming to National Stop Smoking Centres that is a given.

So far so good, but what about after you stop? Far too many people imagine that once they have stopped smoking it’s going to be like they never smoked. That they can just forget about it. That can be and is true in some cases, but sadly not all. It is normal to experience problems, to hit triggers to smoke, at some time. Long-term support is important, so please don’t underestimate it. You will have three years of telephone support and counselling with our NSSC AfterCare service. Do use it.

And while we’re on the subject, here is a question for you. How successful have you been stopping smoking with, say, nicotine replacement products? Well, since you’re here, the answer surely is that you haven’t. You may think you are looking at therapy as a last resort, but we need to say something about that. Therapy ALWAYS works better than drugs. Do not worry about your past failures. They have nothing to do with the future.

OTHER AMERSHAM STOP SMOKING RESOURCES

Therapy might not be what you’re looking for. If it isn’t, and you want to take pharmaceutical products to stop smoking, we suggest you see your GP.. You can also visit the Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS website here.
