A STOP-SMOKING TIP

Before you decide to see our Woodley hypnotist you should be quite sure that this is the right therapy for you. You may know someone who stopped smoking with hypnotherapy, which is good. But that does not necessarily mean it’s right for you. Don’t get us wrong – it probably is. We’re just saying it’s not the right way to make this decision.

Of course, if you’ve stopped before with hypnotherapy, then that definitely does mean you should have it again. You should think about why you started smoking again, but at this point we could usefully remind you of our three years of support. Use it wisely and it can make all the difference.

We don’t have acupuncture here but we do have a Reading acupuncture branch.. If you’re not sure how this works, do click on the link towards the top of this page. This may be worth thinking about as an alternative. However, if you feel you are ready to make an appointment with our Woodley hypnotist then by all means go ahead.

And finally, if you’re still not sure which therapy to choose then why not call us? We’re here to help, and making sure you get the right assistance matters to us, so you can be confident we will give you good advice.

ANOTHER STOP-SMOKING TIP

If you are like most smokers, you would probably like to know the success rate for our Woodley hypnosis service. It’s a fair question. It’s not, however, the right question. We could answer it but how would you know if our answer is truthful? You wouldn’t. This is why we don’t answer it, and it’s why no smoking cessation therapist should. To answer is making a claim, and making a claim you can’t prove is not ethical.

So how, in fact, do we reply to the question? We give what we believe is not only an ethical answer but also a more helpful one. One that actually gives the smoker advice they can use. Our tip to you is to think about this advice.

First, Think about which therapy you need. Booking to see our Woodley hypnotist because you know someone who did may sound sensible but is it? Well, up to a point, but before you do that think about why you can’t stop smoking. Does hypnotherapy resolve your problems? Might our Reading acupuncturist do that better? If you’re not sure, ask for our advice.

Then, make sure the Woodley hypnotist you book with is both qualified and experienced. Of course, if you’re coming to National Stop Smoking Centres that is a given.

So far so good, but what about support? Far too many people suppose that once they have stopped smoking it’s going to be like they never smoked. That can be and is true in some cases, but sadly not all. It is normal to experience problems, to hit triggers to smoke, at some time. Long-term support is important, so please don’t underestimate it. You will have three years of telephone support and counselling with our NSSC AfterCare service. Use it.

And while we’re on the subject, here is a question for you. How effective have you been stopping smoking with pharmaceutical products? Since you’re here, the answer must be that you haven’t. You may think you are looking at therapy as a last resort, but we need to say something about that. Therapy ALWAYS works better than drugs. Do not worry about your past failures. They have nothing to do with the future.

7. If you have a smoker in the house, they have to support you. This means not smoking in the house. It also means not leaving cigarettes around.

8. Throw your cigarettes away.

THE NSCI STOP SMOKING HANDBOOK

Before seeing our Reading hypnotherapist in Woodley, you might like to read the free sample pages on our website.
Here is a very small taster:

Hostility to a government that introduces more smoking regulations is completely self-defeating. They’re not having a go at you. They don’t care about you. Banning you from smoking in public places isn’t for your benefit, it’s for the benefit of non-smokers. Actually, even that’s not the whole story because what it’s really about is non-smokers suing employers and local authorities and even the government, for getting smoking-related diseases from passive smoking. That’s all it is. You are not the target, so stop worrying about it.

And in any case, regulations about where you can and can’t smoke have nothing whatever to do with stopping. A government that says such regulations will have the effect of reducing smoking are either lying or deluding themselves, both things governments do habitually. Why would anyone stop smoking just because they can’t smoke in the pub? Alright, the more smoking is restricted the fewer cigarettes some people will smoke simply because of the difficulty, but to be honest the effect is fairly minimal. I know, because we talk to tobacconists, who are a lot more reliable as informants than health authorities who have a reason for making false claims because it justifies their budgets, and tobacconists don’t see a reduction in sales.

OTHER WOODLEY STOP SMOKING RESOURCES
