A STOP-SMOKING TIP
Before you decide to see our Laindon hypnotist you should be quite sure that this is the right therapy for you. You may know someone who stopped smoking with hypnotherapy, which is good. But that does not necessarily mean it’s right for you. Don’t get us wrong – it probably is. We’re just saying it’s not the right way to make this decision.
Of course, if you’ve stopped before with hypnotherapy, then that definitely does mean you should have it again. You should think about why you started smoking again, but at this point we could usefully remind you of our three years of support. Use it wisely and it can make all the difference.
Having read the information we provide about hypnotherapy, if you’re not sure about how it works then why not call us? We’re here to help, and making sure you get the right help matters to us, so you can be sure we will give you good advice. Or if you feel you are ready to make an appointment with our Laindon hypnotist, then by all means go ahead.
ANOTHER STOP-SMOKING TIP
Among the many questions smokers have about our Laindon hypnotist is one about our success rate. The answer to this is that there is no answer. Anyone who answers this question is making a claim, and that is something we are not allowed to do. If a therapist ever makes such a claim, ask them to prove it. They can’t do that.
The honest approach to this issue is rather to look at what can be done to give you the best chance of success.
You might be surprised how many people ring us to ask for help with stopping smoking with hypnotherapy, but don’t really know how it works. They also haven’t considered the alternative, which is acupuncture. So the first thing you should do is compare the two therapies, and see which one is right for you.
Then, having chosen the right therapy, you need to find the right therapist. How do you know who is really qualified and experienced? Well, you are on this site, so that answers that one.
And here’s something most smokers just don’t think about. You are very likely to stop smoking with therapy, but what about staying stopped? Who do you turn to if you have a problem? In other words, does the therapy come with a support programme? With NSSC therapy, yes it does.
And lastly, remember that if you have used pharmaceutical products before that has no bearing on whether you are likely to stop smoking with therapy. Therapy ALWAYS works better than drugs.
When you book with our Laindon hypnotist it’s going to be because we have looked at what help you need, so you know hypnotherapy is the correct choice. You are going to have three years of counselling support by telephone from our AfterCare experts. And while we will not claim that our Laindon hypnotist is the only qualified therapist in your area, you will at least know she has been vetted, is regularly monitored, and is working as a team with us to give you the best possible result.
DOING IT RIGHT
TEN TIPS FOR GETTING THE BEST FROM YOUR HYPNOTHERAPY
We want you to get the very best from your session at our Laindon hypnotherapy branch. Follow these simple tips and you can help us to help you.
2. Again, before you come, watch at least some of our videos here. Just pick those that interest you the most.
3. At the session, make sure you ask our Laindon hypnotist anything at all. Don’t hold back – they have to know what you need to know.
4. The day after your session, call the NSSC AfterCare helpdesk, on 01200 40 50 22. Their job is to make sure that everything is going well. If it is, that’s great. If it isn’t, they’re going to help you to fix it.
5. Avoid tomatoes, and any food containing tomato. If you don’t know why this matters, call us.
6. You might be tempted to go out drinking. Don’t do that until you don’t care about smoking.
7. If you have a smoker in the house, they have to support you. This means not smoking in the house or leaving cigarettes around.
8. Throw away all smoking materials. Why wouldn’t you do that?
9. Tell your friends you have stopped and ask them to support you in this.
10. Finally, something we cannot emphasise enough. If you have a problem, call us. We will never judge you. We’re here to help, and we’re very good at it. Don’t call our Laindon hypnotist, call the AfterCare service, on 01200 40 50 22.
THE NSCI STOP SMOKING HANDBOOK

Here is a very small taster:
Because I like chewing gum
Well, imagine you have the habit of chewing gum very regularly. You might say: I enjoy gum, I like to hand it round in company, I chew it when I’m bored, or as a reward, I like gum after a meal, and chewing helps me to relax. Alright, so far all of this is perhaps true. Now, imagine that one morning you wake up and the headline in every newspaper is that something people are in the habit of using every day has been discovered to be the major cause of death from cancer and heart disease, and that thing is chewing gum, that gum is killing three hundred people a day.
Is it conceivable that for anyone the benefits of chewing would outweigh the danger? Would gum chewers say I really want to stop but I can’t, because I need it to relax? Chewing gum would instantly be banned by the government because there would be no profit in it for them. Either that or they would tax it, and if that meant that chewing gum was going to cost, say, £2000 a year people would stop buying it anyway because no-one needs to chew gum that much. And that’s the point. No-one needs to chew gum. You can have all the same habits with gum as with tobacco, all the same associations with pleasure and relaxation, but what you will never have for it is a need. You would, in short, stop chewing gum because you’re not addicted to it.
OTHER LAINDON STOP SMOKING RESOURCES
Therapy might not be what you’re looking for. If it isn’t, and you want to take pharmaceutical products to stop smoking, we suggest you see your GP.. You can also visit the NHS Smokefree website here.
