A STOP-SMOKING TIP

A lot of smokers who call us about our Peterborough hypnotist or acupuncturist ask about the success rate for our therapy. We give everyone the same answer. We can’t say. This doesn’t mean we don’t know, it means we’re not allowed to say. As part of a medical foundation, we have strict ethical rules, and one of these is that we cannot make claims which we can’t prove. In fact no therapist should make such claims.

We give potential clients an answer which we believe is more helpful. This is that, first of all, we provide therapy, and therapy is always more successful than the drug products the NHS uses. And then we explain the three things the smoker can do to make it work.

  1. Use the therapy that is right for you. Not for other people, for you. This means looking at why you have a problem with stopping smoking and finding the therapy that solves those issues. Too many smokers, for example, use nicotine replacement products not because they solve the problems they have but because they are easy to get (and cheap). That’s not the way to do it.
  2. Find a qualified, experienced, ethical therapist. Well, you’re here, so that’s that one solved.
  3. Demand post-therapy support. Independent therapists do often offer this, but they have two problems. One is that they are not always available, because they are seeing clients. We have a dedicated AfterCare service. The other is that they don’t specialise. We do. We only do smoking cessation, which makes us more knowledgeable than any therapist you will ever see.

If you are thinking of booking with our acupuncturist  or hypnotist in Peterborough, read about how they both work on the page we have on this site. Then call us or complete the contact page. We will talk through your stop-smoking issues and advise on the correct therapy for you. We will answer any questions you have. And then, when you’re ready, we will have our Peterborough hypnotist or acupuncturist, as appropriate, call you. Get to know them, ask them in detail about how they work. Then, if you are ready, they can offer you an appointment, usually within days.

THE NSCI STOP SMOKING HANDBOOK

Before you see our Peterborough hypnotherapist or acupuncturist, read the free sample pages on our website.
Here is a tiny taster:

Because I need to smoke when I’m stressed

Of course you do, everyone does. Everyone knows that smoking makes you less stressed.

Except that it’s all rubbish. It’s not a reason, it’s another excuse. There’s a whole tutorial on this later because stress is the biggest excuse smokers have for starting again when they have stopped, and if you don’t take this on board now you are doomed, doomed I say, so listen up. Smoking does not reduce stress, it increases it. If you believe you can’t stop smoking because you are stressed you are in deep deep trouble, because you’re facing the wrong way in a one-way street. By the time you have finished the Handbook I never want to hear you saying again that you can’t stop smoking because you’re stressed. Got it?

OTHER PETERBOROUGH STOP SMOKING RESOURCES

Therapy might not be what you’re looking for. If it isn’t, and you want to take pharmaceutical products to stop smoking, we suggest you see your GP.. You can also visit the city council website here.
