A STOP-SMOKING TIP

One question we are often asked is how successful hypnotherapy is. It’s a natural question to ask, but there is no simple answer. First, let’s be clear about something. Phone any hypnotist in Market Harborough and ask them how successful they are; their answer should be that there is no answer. Why?

Because of ethics. Saying how good you are constitutes a claim. You cannot prove that claim, in which case it is  not ethical to make it. We at National Stop Smoking Centres don’t make claims, and our Market Harborough hypnotist won’t if you ask them. Instead, they will tell you there are three things you can do to give yourself the best chance of success.

The first is have the appropriate therapy. That is going to happen, because we offer a range of stop-smoking methods. Whatever method is best for you is one we can provide.

The second is to make sure you see a well-qualified therapist, one who has good smoking cessation experience. That, obviously, is why people come to us.

And finally – support. Our Market Harborough hypnotist is very good indeed, but we’re not talking here about them, we’re talking about you. You are human. You have probably stopped smoking before, and of course started again. So you know things go wrong. Our view of this is that a mistake does NOT mean you have failed. It means you need more help.

Our AfterCare service is free for you to use for a full three years. We don’t mind you calling; in fact we WANT you to call. It’s why we’re here. And we are very good at this. The biggest mistake clients make when they hit a problem is to believe they have failed. Call our AfterCare team, and we will show you how to sort it out. And here is a promise: We will always be non-judgemental. So don’t be afraid to call. We’re on your side.

THE NSCI STOP SMOKING HANDBOOK

Here is a small taster:

Why did you try smoking?

Here’s another question first: if a child asked you for a cigarette because they wanted to try smoking, would you give them one? I’ve asked a lot of smokers this question in my work and the answer has only ever been no. You know that trying a cigarette leads to becoming a smoker, and your experience of being one of those is that you wouldn’t want a child to do it.

If only someone had explained that to you when you tried it. Well, of course even back then the chances are you knew it wasn’t a good idea, but on the other hand it rather depends on what you call a good idea. Becoming a lifelong smoker and spending two thousand pounds a year and getting emphysema and surviving on an oxygen machine while you wait to die isn’t a good idea, but somehow that wasn’t how you thought about it when you were fourteen.

OTHER MARKET HARBOROUGH STOP SMOKING RESOURCES

Therapy might not be what you’re looking for. If it isn’t, and you want to take pharmaceutical products to stop smoking, we suggest you see your GP.. You can also visit the NHS Leicestershire County website here.
